Not Much Time Left

Wow, what a season this has been. Just one weekend left and it is still close race. Those who were around last year remember that someone (Me) came from second place to beat Lin on the final weekend of NFL games. I think the loss got to Lin so bad that he has stopped all football operations this year since the 9th week. The pressure can get to you, just ask Adam as he tries to hold on to the top spot this season. He has had a masterful run the past five weeks as he has averaged 10.4 points per week during this stretch. If he does win, he would certainly be deserving of it. Remember, first place gets $40.00, second gets $24.00 and third gets $16.00. One might ask is all the pressure worth it? You bet your $10.00 it is, just ask a winner.

Right now only 5 points separate top from third and Susan and Amy (wonderful comeback from taking a week off) are only nine points behind Adam. I say Adam even though Jon is also in first place, he did not opt to get in on the money side of the game and thus if he does come in first place it will be a hollow victory.

The other two games we are involved in don't mean much since no one is close in the Eliminator and the Gridiron is just too tough to call each week.

I will report my final standings after the games this weekend and report on the numerous awards for the 2006 NFL season. See you next year. Hope you all have a Happy and Safe New Years.

12 Down 5 To Go

It is hard to believe we are now almost three quarters of the way through this season in the Pros. The colleges are now down except for a few championship games today and of course the Bowl Games. Don't forget to sign up for that game. Here on the Pro side we still have a lot to play for. Three games are still raging except with Lin who has given up in all of them in favor of following NC basketball. They did have a nice win this week. The only game that really counts for money though has some folks locked in a pretty good battle.

Pickems: It has been a while since I have reported on this but the top remains very familiar with Liz tied for the top spot with Jon (probably feels bad he didn't get in on the money aspect of the game.) Both are at 98% and in the top 5000 in the country. They are followed by Adam & myself and finally Sue. A look back shows that weeks 6 through 9 were tough weeks with not one member getting into double figures. Oh Sweet Parity. As with the college game, we have had members take a week off. May I remind everyone that there are no bye weeks in this game. Jay took two weeks off in a row. Amy went on vacation to FL and only picked one game and picked it wrong. Our own Sideline Expert has ceased football operations it appears. With 5 weeks to go a lot can still happen. I for one, look forward to the remaining weeks. Remember, soon the pros will start playing on Saturdays as well. I hope everyone remembered to pick the game this past Thursday night. No one saw the game since it was on the NFL Network.

Gridiron Challenge: The master of this game appears to be Jon who is stomping everyone. He has only had three weeks where his guys were below 100 points. Must have an inside track with this. Jay will have to really pull out some things to repeat again in this game. I still find it difficult to get good performers every weekend. In order to simplify my life next year I may have to cut this one out of my repertoire.

Eliminator: This is still the easiest game to play every year. Just pick one game each week. Lin was doing quite well in this game and one of the leaders in the country when he stopped picking games. Once you pick the wrong team and lose you are pretty much out of it for the national prize but still play for local glory. What ever that is. It seems as though Big Jay, Scott, Bryan and myself are the only ones still picking teams in this game. Congratulations on your steadfastness.

Well folks, the last few weeks will be challenging to say the least as teams try to salvage their seasons and make the playoffs. It will be interesting to watch from the sidelines.

Final Note: Braintree beat Milton this year in their annual Thanksgiving Day game.
